Diferencia entre bring y take en inglés: usos, ejemplos y ejercicios

La diferencia entre bring y take es una de las dudas más comunes en inglés, y tiene que ver con la dirección del movimiento en relación con el hablante:

• Bring significa traer, y se usa cuando algo se mueve hacia la persona que recibe el objeto o hacia el lugar donde esa persona estará.

• Take significa llevar, y se usa cuando algo se mueve desde la persona que tiene el objeto hacia otro lugar.

Es una lógica muy similar a la diferencia entre come (venir) y go (ir).

Bring (traer) – Uso y ejemplos

Bring se utiliza cuando el movimiento es hacia aquí.

Ejemplos:

• Can you bring the book to me?
  ¿Puedes traerme el libro?

• Please bring some snacks to the party.
  Por favor, trae algunos aperitivos a la fiesta.

• Bring your ID when you come to the office.
  Trae tu DNI cuando vengas a la oficina.

Take (llevar) – Uso y ejemplos

Take se utiliza cuando el movimiento es hacia allí, es decir, lejos del punto donde está el hablante.

Ejemplos:

• Please take this letter to the post office.
  Por favor, lleva esta carta a la oficina de correos.

• I’ll take the umbrella with me.
  Me llevaré el paraguas conmigo.

• Take your bag when you leave.
  Llévate tu bolsa cuando te vayas.

Bring vs Take

Take o bring: ¿cuál usar?

Bring se utiliza cuando el objeto viene hacia la persona que lo recibe o hacia el lugar donde esa persona estará.

Take se usa cuando el objeto va desde la persona que lo tiene hacia otro lugar.

Ejemplos:

• Take o bring the cake?
  → Si vas a la casa de otra persona, dirás: I’ll take the cake.
  → Si ya estás allí y pides que lo traigan hacia ti: Bring the cake here.

Take, bring, go: diferencias

Ejemplo:
Bring your coat when you come here, and take it when you go outside.
