Cómo usar Although, Though, Even Though, In Spite Of y Despite con reglas y ejercicios
Estas cinco expresiones se utilizan para contrastar ideas o hablar de algo que ocurre a pesar de otra cosa. Sin embargo, no se usan igual. Aquí tienes una guía clara para no confundirte.
Regla principal de uso

Diferencias explicadas
Although
Se usa para introducir una idea opuesta o sorprendente.
Although I was tired, I continued working.
Aunque estaba cansado, seguí trabajando.
Though
Mismo significado que although, pero más informal y más frecuente al final de la frase.
I liked the movie. It was long, though.
Me gustó la película. Aunque fue larga.
Even though
Más enfático que although. Se usa cuando la sorpresa es mayor.
Even though he studied a lot, he failed the test.
Aunque estudió mucho, suspendió el examen.
In spite of
Más formal que despite. Se usa con sustantivo o gerundio.
In spite of being sick, she went to work.
A pesar de estar enferma, fue al trabajo.
Despite
Mismo uso que in spite of, pero más común en inglés escrito.
Despite the cold, they went swimming.
A pesar del frío, fueron a nadar.
Diferencia entre Despite y in spite of

Correcto: Despite the rain
“Despite o although”: ¿cuál usar?
Depende de la estructura que necesites:

Aunque expresan lo mismo:

Despite o Even though
Even though es más fuerte, más sorprendente:
Even though he’s rich, he’s not happy.
Despite his wealth, he’s not happy.
